I am a person who looks for signs. Actual signs.
Before I make a big decision, I start hunting for clues in the world around me. Numbers. Song lyrics. The same odd phrase showing up three times in one day. If the clock reads 11:11 at the exact moment I’m wrestling with something, well, that settles it. The universe has spoken. Decision made.
And then, almost immediately, I panic.
Full what-have-I-done mode. I replay every detail. I wonder if I read the sign wrong. I wonder if it was ever a sign at all, or just a clock doing what clocks do. The same certainty that felt so clear five minutes ago suddenly feels like something I invented.
If you’ve ever bought a home, you might know this feeling better than you’d like to.
Here’s what I’ve come to understand about that spiral, though. The freak-out isn’t a red flag. It’s a sign of how much the decision matters to you.
Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions most people ever make. So of course you go looking for signs. You walk through a house and wait to feel the thing everyone promised you’d feel. The right light in the kitchen. A backyard your kids could grow up in. Some small detail that whispers, this is the one. And sometimes you do feel it. You make the offer. You sign your name in all the places they tell you to.
And then, that night, the spiral starts.
What if we moved too fast? What if there’s something better two streets over? What if the feeling we had at the showing was just good staging and a flattering afternoon light?
I want you to hear this from someone who has sat with a lot of people in exactly that moment.
That wave of doubt after a big yes is normal. It does not mean you made a mistake. Most of the time, it simply means you care about getting this right.
This is the part of the work I love most, honestly. The uncertain evenings, when you’re staring at the ceiling wondering if you just made the biggest mistake of your life, are exactly when I want to be the person who can talk you back to solid ground. I can tell you which of your worries are worth a second look and which ones are just nerves wearing a costume. I can pull the comparable sales, walk you back through the inspection, and remind you what we actually know, so your decision rests on more than a feeling and a number on a clock.
I’ve watched buyers nearly walk away from a home they loved because the doubt got loud before anyone helped them sort through it. And I’ve watched those same buyers a year later, standing in a kitchen they can’t picture living without, a little embarrassed about how close they came to talking themselves out of it.
The doubt is loud. It is rarely right.
Here’s the truth I keep coming back to. The decisions that make your heart race are usually the ones leading somewhere worth going. You don’t need to silence the nerves to make a good choice. You need someone steady beside you while you feel them, someone who can tell the real signs from the noise.
You don’t have to read the universe alone. That’s what I’m here for.
